April 21, 2026 South Tahoe High School Awards Assembly
President Velma Schnoll, Margie Maxhimer, and David Borges, wearing Kiwanis vests (designed by Don Borges), have handed out this year's Bob Baunhauser STHS Scholarship Awards.  Member
Bob Harms was offering enthusiastic applause and support to the STHS recipients.

This year, $90,000 of scholarships will be awarded to local high schools, South Tahoe High School and
George Whittell High School, along with Lake Tahoe Community College. Giving a lift to our community's aspiring youth. Come join the fun.

Our community, and especially our award recipients, are called upon to honor the legacy of Bob Baunhauser by continuing his commitment to supporting and uplifting the next generation. While not everyone may be in a position to contribute financially as he did, those who share his dedication to community service and youth development can still make a meaningful impact.

One of the most effective ways to do so is by joining the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe. Through collective efforts, members advance a shared mission of service, carrying forward a tradition of generosity and civic responsibility that strengthens our community and helps secure a brighter future for our nation.

Make an IMPACT on your life and those of this community!

Use this link to learn more about joining!

Kiwanis Club members believe in service, care about children, and they are interested in making a difference for the children in the Lake Tahoe community.

They're people like you. Friends. Neighbors. Volunteers who want to make a difference. And they love to see the difference they make when they work together.

Study after study shows that volunteering with an
organization like Kiwanis does more than make people feel good. Volunteering enhances social networks, improves mental health, and contributes to higher levels of happiness, self-esteem, self-worth, and life satisfaction.

Volunteers develop life skills and leadership abilities that can lead to employment opportunities.
Kids Need Kiwanis...

Kiwanis is the safety net that creates opportunities for children to be curious, safe, and healthy regardless of the barriers they face. We provide a positive influence throughout our local community and worldwide, with a dream that all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them, and provide the support they need to thrive.

Dedicated to serving the children of the world, this global volunteer organization annually raises more than US $100 million and dedicates more than 18.5 million hours to strengthen communities and help children. Through service projects and fundraisers, Kiwanis members improve their communities, make lifelong friendships and, most importantly, help children reach their full potential.
